Hitting The Shelves: Brightest Day #15

Hello, my faithful ones. Well, the holiday rush has officially begun in earnest and the year is quickly coming to a close. But before you get too caught up in the hustle and bustle of the season, I wanted you to take note of some new comic work by one of Sequential Treasures own that is at all the finer comic shops.

This time, we have the latest issue to DC Comics big event tale, Brightest Day #15. Once again, our own Mick Gray graces the book for a few pages with his illustrious inks, over the pencils of the always awesome Patrick Gleason. He is, like before, working on the Martian Manhunter part of the story. The book is in shops right now! So, while you are out gift shopping for everyone else, get a little something for yourself and pick up a copy. And also make the holidays a bit brighter for Mick, too. The cover is shown above, so you know what to look for.

Also, here's a little something special for you all, from our resident Hollywood fiend Matt Haley. This is just a little something he produced and directed. If you are a fan of Superman, you probably should check this out. We can only hope the new Superman movie is half an entertaining as this. Just consider it an early Christmas gift from Matt to all of you.

That's all for now, but don't fret. I'm going to be back tomorrow with some big news. How big? Well, let me just say that if you aren't in the holiday spirit yet, this might just help get you there. So, until tomorrow, peace out!

New art for sale from Mick Gray and Sequential Treasures!

Hey, everyone! Well, with us now into August the "lazy days" of summer are upon us. However, lazy days are something we've not been having around the Sequential Treasures HQ for quite a while now, as we just keep steamrolling along. And what better way to start off a new month, than with an update of some new art for sale. Even better, it comes from our latest talent addition, Mick Gray.

Mick dug into his little treasure trove of goodies and pulled out 10 incredible pieces, which will thrill and excite you. Here's the full list of what's been updated, which I think you're going to like (especially if you are a DC Comics fan):

  • Batman Confidential #16, pages 4-5 (pencils by Rags Morales and which is shown here)

  • Fantastic Four: Secret Invasion #3, page 5 (pencils by Barry Kitson)

  • Joker Hardcover, page 94 (pencils by Lee Bermejo)

  • JSA: Kingdom Come Special: Magog #1, page 26 (pencils by Fernando Pasarin)

  • Promethea #26, page 16 (pencils by J.H. Williams III)

  • Promethea #28 pages 2-3 (pencils by J.H. Williams III)

  • Seven Soldiers of Victory: Zatanna #2, page 3 (pencils by Ryan Sook)

  • Superman/Batman Annual #3, page 26 (pencils by Chris Batista)

  • The Shield #1, page 14 (pencils by Marco Rudy)

  • Green Lantern #40 Cover Re-creation (pencils and inks by Mick Gray)

So, as you can see, some really primo stuff by some very well-known names. Just head on over to our art gallery and check them out. Then, place your orders. Oh, and just so you know, Mick has said that the Promethea pages are the last ones that he has of the series. So, take note Alan Moore fans!

That's all for now, but I'll be back soon, as we strive to keep your summer a very hot one, as far as your desires for original art is concerned. Until next time, peace out!

A "super" update of art for sale from Matt Haley!

Hey everyone! Well, as the month of May comes quickly to a close, that means that summer is just around the corner. That leaves little time left for "spring cleaning," but we are squeezing in a small art update from Matt Haley's recent jaunt in doing so.

This time out we have some published pin up pieces, which were used in an Entertainment Weekly story, back sometime in 1997. These are all based on some of the "movers and shakers" in Hollywood. See if you can figure out who they are.

On top of that, we have over a dozen pieces relating to the DC Comics Superman Returns: Official Movie Adaption comic. Most of the pages are published one (although a couple are not) and we even have a couple of character model sheets based on the Clark Kent and Lex Luthor characters in the film (the former of which you can see right here). All of it is priced to move fast! So, if you see something you like, be sure not to waste time and get your order in ASAP! Just head on over to our art gallery and place your order.

That's all for now. I'm sure I'll be back soon with more news and other tidbits for you to see. Until then, peace out!

Artist Bio: Matt Haley

Hello, my comic art faithful. I told you I'd be back soon with more news and info and you know your not-so-humble blogmaster has never lied to you before, so why start now?

Today's news is probably some of the biggest I've had to give in some time. It's something I've been sitting on for a bit, until the time was right to spring it. Well, all has fallen into place and that time is now: Sequential Treasures is now the exclusive art rep for big time comic star Matt Haley! This is very big news for us here and we couldn't be more excited to be working with an artist of Matt's reputation and caliber. I'm sure many of you are familiar with Matt's art from his time at the big two. But for those of you not so in the know, here's a small rundown on Matt's career:

"Artist Matt Haley is well known in the world of comic books for his years of work for Marvel (THE ORDER, HEROES REBORN: REBEL), DC (SUPERGIRL/BATGIRL: ELSEWORLDS FINEST, BIRDS OF PREY) and Dark Horse (GHOST), but he attracted a whole new audience thanks to the illustrations he provided for HarperCollins' new book BADASS, by Ben Thompson, in bookstores nationwide.

Already hard at work on the sequel, Haley also heeded the call to Hollywood and created art for both seasons of Sci-Fi Channel’s hit series, “Stan Lee’s Who Wants to be a Superhero?” But never to forget the industry that helped put him on the map, he remained a fixture in comics working on the art to Superman Returns movie adaptation. Haley’s talent and reputation as an artist have created a demand for his work that spans the entertainment industry.

More recently, he was lead artist for Rift Software's "Liberty Rocket" XBOX game, as well as providing covers for FEMME NOIR for Ape Entertainment, TANGENT: SUPERMAN'S REIGN at DC Comics, and Avatar's relaunch of LADY DEATH. He's
also just directed a secret film project that will be viral on the web by May."

As I said, this is big news. The only down side, is that Matt doesn't have very much of his past originals left for sale. However, Sequential Treasures is working with him to create new exclusive pin up pieces to be sold through us, as well as lining up commission works for him. We will shortly have a commissions rate chart available, so make sure to check in with us shortly, if you'd like to get your own Matt Haley original. Even better, Matt will be at Emerald City ComiCon in March, along with myself, Randy Kintz and Ben Hansen. So, Sequential Treasures looks to be out in force come March and you'll have the opportunity to meet many of the talented creators in our stables.

Wow, how exciting, huh? Things just continue to move onward and upwards for Sequential Treasures and we hope you'll be along for the ride. That's all for this time. I'll be back with more news and updates soon. If they turn out as impressive as this one, you just might not be able to stand it! Until then, peace out!

Seattle ComiCard Aftermath: Where were the people?

Well, here's my report from the show, as promised. As you can probably guess from the title, things weren't exactly stellar at this show, either. In fact, the amount of traffic at this show, made the Spokane one look about as packed as the Emerald City ComiCon, by comparison. Steve Miner is a good guy and this show can usually be a lot of fun, but I think some poor planning really hindered this one.

First off, at Key Arena right next door, there were graduation events going on. This made finding parking a real pain (not to mention even more expensive). As if that wasn't bad enough, in the section of the hall across from the show, they were holding an arcade game and pinball symposium filled with classic games to play. It seems that finding a worse weekend to hold the show would be highly unlikely.

That picture above is of yours truly, in what would be probably the best point of the show for me (the set up). Only sold a single piece of art all day and not a very expensive one, at that. No sketchbooks or anything else would move. My only consolation, is that it seems many of the other vendors didn't make out any better than me. One of them, Chuck Messinger of Comic Evolution, even told me that it seemed people who came didn't seem to bring their wallets with them. He actually wanted to buy a semi-expensive piece from me, but didn't make enough at the show to do so.

My show highlight was, again, handing out comics to the kids at the show. Gave away almost another 40 comics, too. I also got to bask in the glowing presence of Randy Kintz, which is a pleasure you just can't measure. I even got him to do an amalgam sketch of Alf as Superman. He seemed to do okay at the show, from a financial standpoint, but with me paying for the table and a friend driving him up, it would be hard to have come out at a loss. Wish I could get offers like that.

In the end, this was the biggest bust for me yet. But, as ever, I will soldier on. On the plus side, it means that all of you here online still have an opportunity to grab up some of the art I have in inventory (and given my losses at these local shows, I REALLY need the sales now). I probably won't be doing any more shows, until the one in Portland this November. So, make sure to mark your calendars for that one.

Well, that's all for now. I have some things I'm working on behind the scenes right now and can't talk about. But if they pan out, it'll be some really exciting news for everyone at Sequential Treasures and for you, my faithful followers. Plus, I hope to have some new art updates in the not too distant future. So, keep your eyes peeled here for the latest. Until next time, peace out!
