Are YOU ready for the Emerald City ComiCon?

Hey there, original art lovers! Well, with February pretty much a done deal, it means it's almost time for the Emerald City ComiCon in Seattle! As you know, I've been slowly teasing you all with Sequential Treasures plans for the show, but now, with crunch time upon us, I'm going to spill it all for you right here.

First off, we will be found at booth #1007 in the Exhibitors section of the show floor. You can look at their map of it, to see where we are. Put us pretty far away from artist alley, but whatcha gonna do? I hope you all will be willing to make the trek across the show floor to our booth though, as we have lots of cool stuff planned.

To begin, we'll have several of our artists on hand. Randy Kintz will be at our booth all three days, as will Ben Hansen (who'll be floating between our booth and the "Sketch Crew" tables in artist alley, which are table a-15 through 17). Last, but certainly not least, Matt Haley will be at the booth, but only on Saturday, as some work deadlines will only allow him to be at the show for one day. He, also, will be co-hosting the Blackstar Warrior panel on Saturday at 12:00 pm. You can see it on ECCC's programming schedule. They will all be doing sketches, plus Ben and Randy will have prints and sketchbooks with them, many of them new and debuting at this show.

And speaking of prints, there are two exclusive prints that you can only get from the Sequential Treasures booth. One is a War Machine piece by Ben Hansen. The other is a jam piece by Randy Kintz and Ben, featuring the Transformers, to honor the 25th anniversary of the original Transformers: The Movie (back from 1986). You can see images of both of these prints on our Facebook Group (they both are really awesome, if I do say so myself, and I don't expect them to last very long, as supplies will be limited).

There will, of course, be plenty of original art on hand to purchase from our various artists (not just the ones at the show, either). I'll be lugging over 400 pieces of original art for sale, including some pieces that have not been made available on our art gallery as of yet. Anyone at the show will be getting first crack at them. So, get their first and purchase fast, as I know the good stuff will disappear quickly, as it always does.

Lastly, lest you think we are only about ourselves, we have some really great things to show our giving side. First, is that we are taking donations for the HERO Initiative. As they do not have a booth set up at the show this year, Sequential Treasures has decided to "pick up the slack." It is a most worthy cause, to help older creators in their golden years (many of whom did not have a lot of the benefits and rights that creators today have). In addition, anyone making a donation of $10.00 or more will get a an original sketch card piece by Randy Kintz or Ben Hansen. They have graciously offered to help this noble charity, by doing so (but as with most things, supplies of the cards are limited). And, as if this weren't enough, we will also be giving away free comics to any kids who come by the booth (not to worry parents, they will be age appropriate stuff). But, again, this will only happen while supplies last.

Well, there you have it. The outline for our show time plans. Plus, who knows, maybe we'll even squeeze in another surprise or two. So, I trust I can count on all of you who are going to the show to stop by out booth? I thought so. How could you resist such awesomeness? Answer: you can't!

That's it for now. When next you hear from me, it'll probably be our post show report. So, until then, I'll see you at ECCC in Seattle! Peace out!

Batman and Robin #20 verdict: An overwhelming winner!

Hey, everyone! Well, things are really moving along here at Sequential treasures HQ, as we get ready for our big convention debut for 2011! But before we get into any of that, here's a couple of others things that we wanted to let you know about.

First off, with Mick Gray now the regular inker for the very popular series Batman and Robin, we've been curious how his debut issue (#20, for the record) has been received by the comic reviewing community. Well, the word on the street is in and it looks to be a big hit with most folks. Below are some of the choice comments from some review related site about it:

"In just the first few pages of their first issue on this series, Tomasi, Gleason and Gray have sold me." - DS Arsenault of Weekly Comic Book Review

"I cannot wait to see more of this series and it finally seems like this is going to be in great hands for the future." - iFanboy

"It's delivered everything I want from this series: great writing, exceptional art and a plot that could be as odd as what Morrison accomplished during his tenure on the title." - Erik Norris of IGN

"There is no filler here, no panels used to get to the big guns; everything is done with obvious and painstaking attention to detail." - Iann Robinson of Crave Online

"... this issue was great. It’s opening was heartwarming, it’s ending was a classic cliffhanger, and the stuff in-between made for an excellent read." - John Barringer of A Comic Book Blog

I guess we have a overwhelming hit on our hands, folks. So, if you haven't already check the book out, do so now (the variant cover to the issue is shown above)! Get in on the book that has folks talking.

Next up, I have a special treat for you, but only if you happen to have a Facebook account. At Sequential Treasures Facebook Group, I've just posted a few advanced images from Richard Moore's upcoming one shot called Ladies of the Night, which is due out in April from Antarctic Press. It's basically a pin up book, with little verses that go with each image. It's Richard doing what his fans love to see him do. The images shown will be in the book, but you get a sneak peek of them right now. So, if you don't have a Facebook account, maybe this will give you reason to get one. If you do have one, then you need to join our Facebook group. And once you do, you'll be checking out some exclusive content for us that you won't see anywhere else.

And now, as promised, I'm going to continue to give you all some tidbits on the fun we have planned for the Emerald City ComiCon, which is now only two weeks away! We at Sequential Treasures aren't solely about ourselves. We like to help out others, too. So, that's why we will have a donation jar for the HERO Initiative at our booth (#1007 in the exhibitors section). It seems that this year there will not be a booth at the show for this great organization, so we wanted to do them a solid and give them some kind of presence at the event. But that not the end of it. For those who make a donation of $10.00 or more, our own Randy Kintz will do you a personal sketch card piece. The amount of cards are limited to only 30, so it's "first come, first served." It's just a small way for us to help out a very worthwhile cause, which is very close to our hearts, while also making it fun for all of you guys. So, when you stop by our booth, make sure to do your part and help out.

That's all for now. I'll be back again, as we edge closer to ECCC time, with more info on things. Until then, peace out!

Please help an artist in need!

Hey everyone! I know I promised you a report on the Emerald City ComiCon and it is coming. But before I do that, there's something else you need to know about which is of much greater importance.

Artist Pat Carlucci, whom some of you may know either by name or artistic reputation, is very sick right now. He's battling the disease of lymphoma and things don't seem too good right now. Some of Sequential Treasures artists are good friends with Pat and are doing what they can to raise money for the medical costs of his valiant struggle to beat the illness.

So, please, check out the eBay auctions that are currently up from 5Finity Productions. They feature original pin-ups and sketch cards by not only Pat, but from several other artists, including our own Ben Hansen and Randy Kintz (one of Randy's donations is shown here). We at Sequential Treasures would as you to please help, by bidding on these items. If you've ever had a good friend or loved one who has been stuck by a disease like this, you know how Pat's friends and family feel at this moment. Do whatever you can to help make the outcome of his battle one we all can celebrate.

We at Sequential Treasures thank you for your support and compassion in this matter.

Sincerely,

James Meeley

Sequential Treasures Administrator

Ben Hansen makes a splashy debut!

Hello, Sequential Treasures fans! Well, in what is quickly becoming the most banner week ever for us, I'm here again with more info and updates for you.

Today I have the pleasure of presenting you all with the debut art update from one of our newest artistic finds, Ben Hansen. Ben sent me a small stash of pin ups, just to help break the ice with you. In this batch you'll see great stuff like Batman, Joker, Hawkgirl, She-Hulk a couple of Transformers and more (including the great piece shown here of Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter). Stop by the art gallery and get familiar with Ben's work and make an order, if the spirit moves you.

As if this was good enough, we also have the fact that Ben's sketch cards for 5Finity's Voltron set is also now available, too. Just head on over to the Voltron website and place your order. The sketch cards are randomly used, so there's no guarantee you'll get Ben's, but you'll never know unless you try, right?

Well, that does it for now. I'll have another update for you all tomorrow, concerning our latest talent addition, so you'll want to make sure to be here for that. Until then, peace out!

Artist Bio: Ben "1314" Hansen

Hey everyone! It's been a bit quiet, but all that is gonna change. You know I've been hinting for a while now, that I have some big news coming up. Well, now is the time to let the cat out of the proverbial bag. Sequential Treasures will now be the exclusive art rep for artist Ben "1314" Hansen.

If his name isn't known to you, that's okay. Ben is a fairly new guy to this hallowed industry, but what he lacks in popularity he makes up for with sheer enthusiastic talent. Your humble blogmaster has had the chance to know Ben for years, and in doing so I've watched his style develop and grow very quickly in that time. Don't believe me? Just look at the sample image here to see the kind of work this guy can crank out. But don't let me blow Ben's horn for him, as the artist is more than happy to give the lowdown on himself:

"In a galaxy not quite so far away, nor a time not long ago, Ben “1314” Hansen was bit by the comic bug. Since then he has been penciling away, honing many comic art styles, from mainstream to the macabre and everything in between. Ben got his first break into comics when his good friend and mentor Drew Hayes of Poison Elves asked him to help out with the inks on the book. Ben then moved up to penciling when he got the opportunity to draw Dark Powers and Vermicide for QEW Publishing Group. We can also find Ben’s unique blend of macabre and mainstream in the pages The Dependents soon to be released by Arcana Comics. But if you don’t want to wait that long, you can find his work gracing the pages of Roger Corman Presents Battle Amongst the Star printed by Bluewater Productions. A prequel to the 1986 Roger Corman film, “Battle Beyond the Stars”, of which the first issue will be out this March. Ben has also been working with the good people at 5Finity doing a wide array of sketch cards ranging from the character of MoonstoneComics, Voltron and His personal favorite Zombie VS Cheerleaders."

As you can see, there is plenty Ben Hansen work coming down the pike very soon. You also will have the chance to meet Ben in person, once the convention season swings into gear. We, also, will have some of Ben's original art for sale at our art gallery shortly and will make sure you all know when it hits. So, make sure you take note of his name. You are going to see a lot of it in 2010 and beyond!

That's it for now, art fans. More to come soon. Until then, peace out!

Keeping the hussle in the Holiday bussle...

Hey, everyone! Just wanted to drop a note here, as those of us at Sequential Treasures are keeping ourselves busy with things, as we get closer to the end of the Holiday season.

First off, Randy Kintz currently has an auction up on eBay. No, he's not selling some of his own stuff, but is part of a sketch card auction from 5finity Production, featuring their 2009 Mandy card set. Here's the details on that:

This auction is for a ONE OF A KIND original sketch card from the 5Finity
Productions 2009 release of MANDY Sketch Card Series based on the Dean Yeagle
character.

MANDY is a cute blonde comic strip character created by
Dean Yeagle as a cartoon pin-up girl. MANDY has appeared in Play Boy
Magazine and is a fan favorite character.

This is part of a rare
limited release by 5Finity Productions. What this is, is part of their
TRADING CARD release of packs that randomly included an original sketch card by
various artists. Customers who purchased packs do not know what the
contents of the pack is, so it's a blind box system like most trading cards
where a random card is inserted and there's no guarantees what you'll find
inside.

This here GUARANTEES you that the card you will receive is
the one you see.
No guesswork involved here! What you see is
exactly what you get!

So make sure to get your bid in on his card (and some of the many other artists who contributed, as well), which is pictured above.

Next up, your humble blogmaster has finally taken the plunge and joined up on Facebook. I'll be using it to further extol the virtues and talent of those in Sequential Treasures stables, as well as give a little bit more of my personal slant on things, too. So, make sure to friend me, if you want to keep up even more with the happening here at ST.

Lastly, with how busy we were last month with hitting up various conventions, I totally dropped the ball and missed plugging Richard Moore's re-release of his creation of The Pound. This was originally put out back in 2000, but it has been remastered and colored this time. So, if your shop doesn't have it, bug them until they do. Or, you can just order a copy off the Antarctic Press website.

That's all for now. More to come soon. Until later, peace out!
