Matt Haley's left turn at Albuquerque!

Hello, my fellow art fans! It would seem that things have been quiet around the Sequential Treasures HQ for a while... a bit too quiet. Well, we're hoping to change all that, with some major news bits for you all today.

First off, if you are going to be in Albuquerque, New Mexico this weekend, then you'll surely want to stop by the Albuquerque Comic Expo. Why? Well, there are lots of reasons, but none better than our own Matt Haley will be in attendance there. He'll be talking about a project he's working on with, none other than the legend himself, Stan "The Man" Lee (who will also be at the show). Plus, he'll also be talking about his awesome Star Wars fan film, Blackstar Warrior, as well as doing sketches and the like. So, if you are in the area, stop by the show and spend a few minutes with Matt. You'll be glad you did. But this is just the beginning of our news.

Randy "Rantz" Kintz also has something special going on, as well. He's holding a special commission raffle contest. The price per ticket is $5 , with a max purchase of 15 tickets per person. Only one person can win a prize, to keep it fair for everyone involved. There are also incentive prizes, for people to purchase more than one or two tickets. You can get more info on this, as well as a list of the incentive prizes right here. But your time is limited to get in on this, so don't delay in getting your chance at some really cool art and stuff. Of course, if that fails, you can always pick up something from Randy's eBay listings, or something of his from our art gallery, which are just as cool.

I also want to bring your attention to something a good firend of mine alerted me to. There is a benefit to help a family in need who lost their dad/fiancé recently. This friend also has a piece of thier own artwork as part of the benefit. Sequential Treasures has always liked to help out in situations like this, whenever we can. So, head over to the website on this, to get all the details on how you can help and perhaps get some awesome art in the process.

It wouldn't be a news report, if I didn't update everyone on the scanner situation. Well, I still haven't replaced it yet, as sales have been beyond light. Despite this, however, the problem will be resolved shortly. To get this side of the program rolling again, I made a very large personal sacrifice to get the funds needed for a new scanner. So, it will not be long before we are running at full steam with art updates again. Of course, that won't be until after the last bit of news I have for you...

As summer is officially here, you all know that it's almost time for our huge summertime sales event, that we hold every year. I'm currently working out the details with our stable of artists, but will have a more defined outline of who'll be involved and how deep the discounts will be. So, make sure to stay tuned here in the coming days, as I'll be providing that information very soon. Probably be a good idea for you to start saving your pennines now, too.

West Coast Wanderings: More appearances by our talent!

Hello again, everyone! I hope you all had a fun-filled Free Comic Book Day event where you were. Those of us at Sequential Treasures certainly did. In fact, you can see some photos of the happenings at our new Facebook page. If you have a moment, stop by and check them out. Needless to say, we are looking forward to next year's event.

But you don't have to wait that long to see our talent in person. This weekend will have several of our awesome artists making show appearances along the west coast. So, make sure to take note of the info your blogmaster is about to impart to you.

To begin, Mick Gray will be attending the Big Wow! Comicfest (formerly known as the San Jose Super-Con). He'll be on hand, not only doing the usual signing and sketching he's known for, but he'll actually be doing a workshop tutorial called "Inking Comics... Not Just Tracing," where you can see first hand just what is involved in the daily work routine of a comic book inker. This is a first for Mick and should be of interest to all you original art lovers out there. The show is this weekend (May 21-22) and you can get the location and other show info at their website.

Then we come to the Spokane ComiCon, which is also this Saturday (May 21). Both Randy Kintz and Ben Hansen will be among the many guests at this show. They will be doing sketches and have lots of original art on hand. On top of that is their large array of find prints. In fact, Ben Hansen has two new print which will be exclusive at this show (one of which you can see above). Even you humble blogmaster will be there, although as a fan, not in an official capacity. Just look for the guy walking around the show with an art portfolio under his arm and that's likely to be me. You can get more info on this show at their website.

Lastly, an update on the continuing scanner issue. As of now, there seems to be no end to it in sight. With sales having all the robust feeling of a ghost town, I don't know when this situation will alleviate itself. Of course, you can always try to help change that, by heading over to our art gallery and placing an order for some of the great original art that is up for sale there. You support, as always, is greatly appreciated. I really do want to get back to new art updates soon, so please do all you can to help.

Free Comic Book Day 2011 with Sequential Treasures!

Hey, folks! Well, I promised you a rundown on what our plans were for Free Comic Book Day this Saturday. Are you getting jazzed for it? We certainly are here, since it also the event's 10th anniversary, as well.

Sequential Treasures will be at Central City Comics in Ellensburg, WA for the event. I'll have all the originals from our bevy of talents with me, as well as some sketchbooks by Richard Moore, as well as our exclusive prints that we had available at Emerald City ComiCon a couple months back. And, just because I'm so nice and want to get into the full spirit of the day, the store isn't the only one who'll be giving out free comics. I'll be handing out some free comics for kids who show up, as well. But that's not the end of the festivities.

Randy Kintz will also be there with me. He'll be doing sketches and the like, plus he'll have his large array of prints, including his new ones that just debuted at Boston Con last weekend. And the store's owner has some of his own plans, which includes other artist guests (in this case, Jason "Eternal Descent" Metcalf and Jason "Super Real" Martin), discount of selected products, and a raffle for some cool prizes (which you can get tickets for with every can of food you donate to their food drive). On top of all that, he'll also be opening the shop an hour earlier than normal, to give folks more time to get in on the fun. You can get the shop's location information at their Facebook page. We look forward to a good time to be had by all!

But this isn't the only places where you can see some of Sequential Treasures talent. Ben Hansen will be at Docking Bay 93 in Mount Vernon, WA and inker Mick Gray will be at Flying Colors Comics in Concord, CA! So, you have multiple opportunities to see our talent up close. But no matter where you are, I hope you all will have a good FCBD event, wherever you might be. Hitting The Shelves: Strange Aeons Magazine #5

Hello, once more, Sequential Treasures fans! Your humble blogmaster has returned to bring you the latest news on the happenings of our crew of talented artists. So, sit back and read on!

First off, we have some new product that has just been released, featuring our own Ben Hansen. In Strange Aeon Magazine #5, which has just come out, Ben has a short story in it called "Night of the Driving Dead!" Basically, take fast cars, racing, and some zombies and mix thoroughly. It's wild stuff, to be sure. While Ben has provided cover art for the magazine in the past, this is his first time doing an interior story. So, you certainly don't want to miss out on that. The series has been described as "Heavy Metal Magazine meets Tales for the Crypt," which is just about as good a description as you can get. If you are a sci-fi/horror fan, you need to check his series out. This is a small publication, though, so your local comic shops might not have it in stock. If they don't, just head over to the Strange Aeons website and order it directly from the publisher. You'll be glad you did. The wraparound cover to this issue is shown above.

Now, an update on our scanner problem. Well, it still has not yet been replaced. I've had a few minor sales since I last spoke on this, but we are still a long way off from me having the needed funds to replace this vital piece of equipment. So, again, I ask you all to please open your hearts (and wallets) and head over to our art gallery and make a purchase. Your support and assistance in this matter will be more than greatly appreciated. I really don't like not being able to update new art for sale, so everything you do to help can only benefit us all.

Coast to coast with Sequential Treasures talent!

Hey there, my fellow art fiends! Well, it's time once again to drop some knowledge and info on you, concerning the talent roster of your favorite comic art dealership. This time out, we have a couple for you.

First off, Randy "Rantz" Kintz will be at the Boston Comic Con this weekend. It's one of the bigger shows of the year and so we are very pleased that Randy was able to be a part of it. Make sure to stop by his artist alley table and check out all his wares, including a couple of new prints that he's debuting at this show. You can get more info on this show at their website.

Meanwhile, at the same time and on the opposite side of the nation, Mike Vosburg will be one of the attendees to the Anaheim Comic Con in California, hosted by Wizard World. Mike's one of the longtime vets of this industry and has worked for most of the major companies. As one of the old schoolers of the industry, you have a rare opportunity to talk with one of comics most prolific artists. If you are at the show, stop by his artist alley table to say hello and check out his art. You'll be glad you did. More info is at the show's website.

Lastly, an update on the scanner situation. I have to report, that there is no change to report. A couple of very minor sales have taken place since I last spoke on this, but we are still a long way from the funds needed to replace this vital piece of equipment. So, the lack of art updates looks like it'll be continuing on for a little while at least. You can always try to help out yourself and buy a piece of art from our art gallery (especially if you won't be attending either of the shows listed here). Any assistance you can give on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hitting The Shelves: Batman and Robin #22 and more!

Hey there, everyone. It's certainly a red letter day today, for reasons both good and bad. Let's start off with the good, as your blogmaster is here to give you the lowdown on some new comics coming out this week, which spotlight Sequential Treasures array of talented creators. And this week, we have two offerings for you.

First, is the concluding chapter to the first story arc by the new creative team on DC's Batman and Robin. Batman and Robin #22 will be hitting the shops on Wednesday, featuring the inks of our own Mick Gray (over the pencils of Patrick Gleason). And remember, after this issue, the regular team will be taking a break to get caught up on deadline, but will return on issue #26 or 27. So, don't drop the title just yet, as Mick and the guys are just getting warmed up for their run. Also, stop by our Facebook Group and check out the variant cover image to this issue (done by the great Gene Ha).

Second, we have the release of Richard Moore's Ladies of the Night one-shot from Antarctic Press! This is a pin-up book, featuring Richard doing what the fans love to see him do... draw those beautiful females. But these ones come with a twist, as they will all feature some to give them a "touch of evil." Sounds intriguing, no? Well, make sure to look for the cover image shown here, when you hit your LCS this week.

That was the good news, now here's the bad: On top of the scanner situation, which is no closer to being resolved since last your heard from me, my printer has also now died on me. When it rains, it pours. So sales, which were already extremely important, have become even moreso. This is a full blown, five-alarm call to arms! Now, I'm not one to beg, but I do implore all of you to help out in any way you can. Buying some art from our art gallery is the best way, but just spreading the word to others and directing them to the gallery would be almost as good. We really need some sales rolling in now, or it could be quite some time before you see any new art for sale. And I do have new art to scan and post, but that won't happen, until these very important computer components are replaced. So, please, do everything you can to help resolve this, because without your help, the Sequential Treasures train will be grinding to a halt. And I'm sure that no one wants that to happen, least of all myself.

Hitting The Web: Vermicide #1 from QEW Publishing

Hello, my faithful art lovers! Well, it looks like I'm back even sooner than I expected. Today I'm gonna hit you with something a little different. It's a published work from one of our illustrious talents, but not in a way you would expect.

Starting today, the one-shot comic Vermicide: Death By Worm is now available to purchase. But you won't find it at your local comic shop. No, it's only available as an e-book from QEW Publishing. This is obviously the wave of the future for comics and so those of you who are technologically advanced enough and have the proper tech gear, you can get in on this. Our own Ben Hansen has provided the art on this e-book one-shot, including the cover which is shown right here in its colored glory. You can get downloadable copy of the comic (for a small fee, of course), directly at the QEW Publishing website.

Then, of course, you can go and purchase the actual cover art, or any of Ben's other great works (or any of the works from any of our talent roster), at our comic art gallery. The cover is still available right now, but there's a lot of great art there just looking for a good new home. So, do your part and pick up a piece or two. And, after all, we still have our little "scanner issue" here at Sequential Treasures HQ. So, every sale is very important right now! As always, your support is greatly appreciated.

See Mick Gray at WonderCon this weekend!

Hello again, folks! Your faithful blogmaster is back to give you the lowdown on an appearance by one of our awesomely talented artists, as well as a few other tidbits of interest. Let's get to it, shall we?

As most of you know, this weekend is the WonderCon in San Francisco. It's one of the more popular shows of the year, with plenty of great stuff to see. Well, our own Mick Gray will be at the show this year. He'll have the usual array of original art and prints with him, as well as some previews to some upcoming things he's working on. So, if you are at the show, make sure to stop by table AA-025 in artist alley, which is where Mick will be. Tell him Sequential Treasures sent ya. And check out the WonderCon website for more info.

And speaking of Mick, if any of you were filling out your comic orders for May, you might have noticed that Mick (along with Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason) were not the team listed for Batman and Robin #23. Not to worry, though, as I spoke with Mick and he told me that the team doing that issue is going to be doing a three or four issue arc, to give him and the regular team some time to catch up (and even get ahead) on their deadlines. They will be back on the series come issue #26 or 27. So, don't drop the series, if you've been liking their work. There's is plenty more to come soon.

And lastly, I wanted to, once again, update you on our scanner situation. As you know from the last time I updated here, my scanner has died and I don't have the funds to replace it. So, there will be no more art updates, until I get a new one, but that can only happen if you guys buy some of the product we have on our art gallery right now. You don't have to go crazy, but every little purchase helps. So, dig into those wallets and help me to remedy this situation as quickly as possible. I don't want to go for a long period without art updates, just as I'm sure you don't want me too, either. You support is, as always, very much appreciated.

A most important art for sale update!

Hello again, my comic art groupies! We are back with an all new art update, with art from several ofour artists. So, let's not waste any time and get to it, shall we?

First off, Ben Hansen gives us a few new pin up pieces, featuring the likes of the Fantastic Four, X-Force's Domino, and the original art to the War Machine print we had at ECCC this year (and this piece also comes with one of those print, as well).

Nest, Randy Kintz adds a couple of new pieces to the lot. We have the cover art to the Hollywood Highways OGN, from Portal Comics (which is shown here above). And we have a soon-to-be-published pin up that spotlights the ladies of DarkBrain.com.

Last, but by no means least, we have another update of stuff from Richard Moore. Now we have 10 pages from his upcoming Ladies of the Night one-shot, due out next month from Antarctic Press, which can be your's. I don't mind saying that these are probably among some of Richard's finest work (which when you look at all the great art we've showcased by him over the last few years, that's really saying something. You just have to see these to believe them.

Lots of very cool stuff to see, no doubt. So, head on over to our art gallery and check them all out. Then place your oders with the quickness, as I don't expect the best pieces to be around for long.

But, as you might be asking, how does all of that make this the "most important" art update we've ever had? Well, will all this goodness, it only stands to reason that some bad goes with it. While I was working on this update, my flatbed scanner died. After 5 years and a few thousand scans, it is no more. Unfortunately, I do not currently have the funds to purchase a new one. So, without some serious sales in the very near future, there could be no new art updates for some time. This is certainly not something I want, nor do I think any of you out there want this, either. Please help me to avoid this possibility and help me get enough sales to replace such a vital componant for this operation to continue running. I normally don't ask for things like this, but this is an extreme situation that must be addressed soon. As always, your business and support is greatly appreciated by all of us at Sequential Treasures.

Emerald City ComiCon: Post Show Report

Hey there, my artistic fiends! Well, ECCC 2011 is now in the books and history. It was a great time by all account and that includes us at Sequential Treasures. After having a couple of days to decompress from things, it's now time to give you our usual post con report.

This year was a bit different for me, as I didn't get out and about at the show like I normally do. I manned the booth most of the show (like shown in the picture here). This enabled me to see a lot of attendees, a few of whom I already knew. Many of whom, though, I did not. I did notice just how many great costumes there were this year. So, I complied a small catalog of the better one and posted those pics on our Facebook Group. If you are on Facebook, you should check these out (as well as my acerbic attempts at humor on them). Some of these folks really went all out on this.

It was good having Randy Kintz in our booth, as it made the booth feel more of a place to be (which is something I was concerned with, since our booth was on the opposite side of where artist alley was). He sold quite a few prints and did some sketches. A Wonder Woman, Lady Death, Batgirl, and Black Cat were all among the ones he did. But I think my favorite one, was a fun head shot he did of the Joker as a Green Lantern. It was certainly one of the more inventive ones I saw him do.

Speaking of prints, our Transformers jam one did very well and was quite popular with folks. Even ones who stopped by the booth and didn't pick up one, still had nothing but positive comments about it (although, maybe my blasting the Transformers: The Movie soundtrack helped in that, too). I'm certain we'll do another one for next year. I just need to pick the subject matter. Only sold a few pieces of original art, though, but hopefully, with this show growing every year, some of those big spenders will start coming to this one.

While I was at the booth most of the show, I did get out a little each day to get some comics signed and get a few sketches. I noticed that most artists prices are really getting high nowadays. So, I guess if anyone wondered if the recession is over, now you know. Being limited in my funds I didn't get nearly as many sketches as I have in past shows, but I managed to get a few nice pieces by names like Todd Nauck, Erik Larsen, Andy Kuhn and a few others. But if I have to pick my favorite of the show, it's either my Green Lantern by Francisco Herrera or the Spider-Girl by Mike McKone. Both of those were very awesome. But you be the judge and check them out yourself.

I didn't get to any of the panels, or do much comic shopping (although, I did get a decent grade Incredible Hulk #120 from 1969 for only a few bucks). I guess that's just something I'll have to start planning on for next year, because we will be back next year. I've pre-paid for an artist alley table and will have both Randy Kintz and Ben Hansen there with me again (and perhaps even on either side of my table, if things work out right). So, if you didn't get to the show this year, or if you did and just forgot to stop by, you'll have another shot next year.

Our next appearance event will be for Free Comic Book Day in Ellensburg, WA (in which I'll again have Randy Kintz in tow with me). We had a good time at Central City Comics last year and they wanted us back again this year. So, if you'll be in the area on that day, make sure to stop in an join in on the fun!
